While South St. Louis SWCD no longer has a forester on-staff, there are several options available to people in our area for help with forestry related questions.
DNR Forestry has cost-share funds available to help woodland owners’ complete projects to improve forest health and habitat. Eligible projects include things like wildlife and pollinator habitat improvement, tree planting, deer protection, invasive species removal, tree thinning, and forest road work. Funds can also be used for woodland stewardship plans.
More information can be found on the DNR’s Cost-share for Woodland Owners webpage: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/woodlands/cost-share.html
The DNR private forest management specialist in charge of cost share funds for South St. Louis county is: Thor Pakosz
